There is a lot of hype recently about the Negative Calorie Diet. But most people don’t have a clue what it means. In reality, it is a very strict diet that is not recommended for overweight adults looking to lose a few pounds. The Negative Calorie Diet is a plan used by otherwise healthy adults who believe that being underweight will help them live longer, healthier lives. Negative calorie foods help them achieve and maintain this goal.

  • Eat next to nothing.
  • Eat natural foods that take a long time to be absorbed and broken down.

  • Pay close attention to protein, fluids and supplements.

The Negative Calorie Diet is counter to everything we have been taught about weight loss because it suggest that we move into starvation mode and dip under the 1200 calorie limit most doctors and dieticians warn about. It is much less food than we are accustomed to eating. Following the plan will mean you will have to make serious lifestyle changes to make it work, including finding new joy in life that do not include food. The basis of the diet is to eat for a lean life and a long life. The goal should not be to lose weight.

Negative calorie foods are generally fruits and vegetables that fill give you a false sense of fullness. They have very few calories and they require more energy to burn than the calories they have in them.
